THE GENERAL'S BRASSERIE, between heritage and gastronomy
Founded in 1864, la Brasserie du Général is one of the oldest restaurants in Thonon-les-Bains and has strongly influenced the minds of several generations of Thonon residents.
The oldest resident of the place, daughter of the former owners, recounts that her parents took over the operation in 1930.
At that time, the establishment already bore the name Brasserie du Général, in reference to General Dessaix, whose statue sits enthroned on the Belvédère.
The history of the restaurant is intimately linked to the name of this illustrious captain from Haute-Savoie.
It is by preserving the spirit of this unique place, imbued with tradition, culture, and local history, that the Brasserie was rehabilitated and renovated from floor to ceiling in the spring of 2014.
The establishment opens its doors all year round, every day of the week from Monday to Saturday, midday and evening.
